Two out of a twelve pup litter from Cherokee Kennels. Whelped April 2, 2000. This litter is now available to good homes. Shown here is one of the black and tan pups and one of the blue pups. Just so happens that this blue pup has been offered to me by the breeder and I got my fiancee to agree to another dog! A friend of mine (owner of many of the blues in my gallery, Kathy from Trailwind Shepherds) came up with the name, "Little Boy Blue". I really like that name so his registered name will be "Cherokee's Little Boy Blue".

Here he is again. This guy is just too cute! His call name will be "Rebel".

A good shot showing coat comparisons. The pup I want is the blue next to the black and tan. Notice how much lighter he is than his blue littermate in the bushes in front of him and even his other blue littermate to his left. We suspect that this light pup carries the liver recessive as well. There are two kinds of blues. Powder or Frosted Blues, and Steel Blues. The lighter blues appear to carry the liver gene although this is still being confirmed. The dam of this litter is a blue factored black and tan who had three liver littermates. You can see her picture and the sires picture at the bottom of Cheyenne's page.

This picture was set up for comparison. We noticed that there were two different types of black and tans in the litter. Some were an "off black". On the left we have a rich black and tan pup. In the middle an "off black" and on the right a blue. We have been wondering if these "off blacks" actually are carriers of the blue recessive.

Three of the blues and one of their black and tan littemates attack a water gun! There were 12 pups in this litter, 6 blues and 6 black and tans.

My pup lays down in front. You can see how much lighter he is than one of his blue littermates behind him. Pictures do not do this dog justice. His coat color is much more exquisite than my digital camera was able to capture. I pick him up Saturday, June 24, 2000 so he will have his own set of pages very soon!
