"BlueBerry"

BlueBerry Vom Denali, was bred by Denali Kennels But not on purpose! A total surprise to the breeder, BlueBerry is due to be spayed and will train in Florida and join a Search and Rescue team. She is pictured here at 10 months of age prior to leaving the nest. BlueBerry is a Blue and Red.

BlueBerry is a very pretty girl. Like all blues she is not available to compete in the conformation ring. While the coat color is a serious fault, the nose leather not being predominately black is a disqualifying fault. Blues however can compete in every other venue and in no way does the coat color make them any less capable than any other normal colored German Shepherd.

Blueberry has a great looking pedigree and like many blues of German heritage more than likely picked up this recessive gene from Uran vd Weinerau on at least one side. Surpringly some of the most highly sought after and heavily bred studs of American and German lines carry the blue gene. On the American side Lance of Fran Jo is but one of the suspected culprits of spreading this gene. When America bred itself into a corner on the Fran Jo lines and Germany did the same with Canto and Uran, breeders unwittingly seeded the entire breed with the blue gene. The numbers of blues born are growing rapidly as the result of this heavy breeding into these lines is now coming to light. I find it rather amusing myself. LOL! While these are not the only studs who carry this gene you will find yourself hard pressed to show me a pedigree in which at least one of these lines is not present.
